Ford Dry Sump Project

This is the start of a long and winding road of adding a Dry Sump oiling system to my 1965 Fastback Mustang. This is
not a trivial project and if I had not blown up the motor with yet another issue related to oiling I might not be going down
that road. In addition to related oiling issues I always wanted a Dry Sump just to be one of the 'Cool Guys' which I'm
not.

This is going to be a broken out into a few pages, some related to the components, some to the fitment of tank, pulleys
and other related.

This is a costly and long project that is finally underway. Still more to go, check back here often as I update and add
pages.

Note that some of these parts may be specific to the build I did. Check your parts for your specific build before you
complain to me that something is not right. Oh, don't do this is you can't, or if you want to blame me or others for
botching the job and blown engines, etc... This is a DIY project and you are on your own at your own risk!

Peterson Primer Larger Filter Mount

Click HERE or the Picture above to see what I'm talking about! The Peterson remote filter mount is a very unique part that is super useful if your engine sits for a while, and when firing up for the first time. The mount is for an external filter that has either left or right side input lines as well as supporting either the LARGE racing filters or the standard style. It has several mounting brackets, roll bar/tube or firewall mount.

The Ripper will get one of these replacing the Canton Mecca filter that I have been currently using. I went with the firewall mounting bracket and the type that uses the larger and higher flowing racing filters.

Choosing a Dry Sump Oil Pan

Click HERE or the Picture above.

In this section I will look at 2 of the oil pans that I have and which one will be used and why. The choices ended up between one Canton Racing Products and one from Champ Pans. Fitment, quality, price, and features were all looked at as I made my way towards a decision.

Mounting the Peterson Dry Sump Tank

Click HERE or the Picture above.

There is not a lot of room to mount a good sized dry sump tank in the early Mustang's. So I decided to mount the 4 gallon tank behind the passenger seat. This project is how I did it, your mileage may vary, so enjoy my madness.
