1995-2000 Ford Explorer Radiator Replacement
My 1996 Ford Explorer (The Survivor) is still running strong. It did suffer a radiator leak and when I found out the cost of a new
radiator (right around 100 bucks shipped) I figured I would stop putting water in it and just fix it once and for all. This procedure
should work fine on 1995-2000 Ford Explorers and if they made a Mercury Mountaineer equivalent to the Explorer it should work
on that too. My Explorer has a 4.0L V6 engine with only the transmission cooler. Your Explorer may have a couple of options in the
radiator with respect to auxiliary cooling of oil and transmission fluid. The radiator shown above ONLY has the automatic
transmission oil cooler option. Make sure you get the right one for your vehicle.
Complexity
This was a pretty easy job. It took about one hour to do the work, again with my taking pictures to show how I did it. It's pretty
straight forward and you only need a few tools. So get to it and save some money!
